Don’t get me wrong, I am sad summer is ending. However, there is always a silver lining. Fall in Green Bay means Packers football! We love game day in our house, so I am going to share with you a few fun and EASY ways to celebrate a new football season as a family. I need to stress EASY because if it’s not simple, it’s just not happening. I require few steps and limited artistic ability. No matter what NFL team you follow (but, really, it should be the Packers!), these ideas will make your next football party touchdown dance worthy.
Cake!
No party is complete without cake (at least in my opinion). As I mentioned above, easy is a prerequisite in order for me to tackle it. I recognize my limits and I am telling you I am not a cake decorator. This is where I pick up the phone and call my local bakery to place an order. E.A.S.Y. Having an official licensed NFL product on my dessert is the icing on the cake for our Packers celebration!
Mason Jars
Mason jars continue to be the party trend. Whether you use them to serve beverages or as centerpieces, they always add some fun to the party! This is a fun activity to do with the kids.
What you’ll need:
- Mason Jars (clean first and let them dry completely)
- Acrylic Paint
- Paint Brushes, Sponge Brush, or Cotton Swabs (my personal preference is the sponge brush and cotton swabs)
- Painters Tape (optional depending on design)
- Straws (re-usable straws are eco-friendly)
- Scissors
- Cupcake Liners
Directions:
Paint your favorite football related design on the jar. Let it dry completely.
*depending on the design this may be a two day project to allow for necessary drying.
Tips for beverage use:
*Do not paint the rim of the jar.
*Use a scissors to cut an ‘x’ in the middle of the cupcake liner.
*Place liner upside down on top of mason jar, screw on the lid, and insert straw.
IMPORTANT: To ensure your paint doesn’t wash or chip off, it is recommended to cure your mason jars. After letting finished project air dry for approximately one hour, place in cool oven. Set oven to 350 degrees F and bake for 30 minutes. Turn oven off and remove.
Packers Punch
Need some ideas on what to put in those newly decorated mason jars? Here is a fun, green punch sure to make your Packers party that much more festive!
Ingredients
1 quart of hot water
46 oz of pineapple juice
2 12 oz cans of orange juice concentrate thawed (recommend pulp-free)
4 1/2 cups of cold water
2 liter bottle of ginger ale flavored soda
Dissolve the gelatin in the hot water and let cool. In a large bowl mix together cooled gelatin mix, pineapple juice, orange juice concentrate, and cold water. Add the soda right before serving. Cheers to a Packers’ victory!
BONUS: Have some brown lunch bags in the house? Use some paint to decorate individual snack bags. Perfect for popcorn! You will need to allow time for drying.
BINGO!
Why not incorporate a game of BINGO into your game day festivities?! It’s an interactive way to teach your kids about the game of football. Making a friendly wager can make it more fun, too! For example, the winner gets to select the movie for the next family movie night. We usually use pennies for our BINGO chips (if you are feeling extra creative you can paint the pennies in your team’s colors) but color coded chocolate candies are a great and delicious option as well. It’s super easy to create your own BINGO card, but if you are like me and enjoy the EASY way, you can download our two versions here: BINGO 1 & BINGO 2.
