Meet Your Green Bay Area Writing Team
Ruth was born in Green Bay and lived in the area until venturing off to UW Madison for college. Her education led her to a life in retail. Retail took her to Milwaukee, Charlotte, NC, and, eventually, back to Green Bay. In 2014 she decided to pause her career in retail to help her husband build his CPA firm. Ruth & Chris reside in De Pere with their four children, Smith, Tess, Burke, & Jack. As great as Green Bay summers are, Fall is Ruth’s favorite. She loves the colors, crisp air, and, of course, football. Ruth enjoys hanging out with the fam, reading up on the latest fashion, & savoring a nice glass of cabernet.Nicki was raised just outside of Madison on a dairy farm. She met her husband, Dan, while attending college at UW–La Crosse. She earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology and worked for seven years in Cardiac Rehabilitation. Nicki and Dan became parents in September 2012 when their daughter, Elsie, was born. Charlotte followed and was born in May 2016. Nicki and Dan moved to Green Bay so that Dan could take a job transfer and Nicki could become a stay-at-home mom. In her free time, Nicki enjoys pinterest projects, trying out coffee shops, taking her dog for walks, and exploring all Green Bay has to offer.Anne is a native of De Pere and graduate of St. Norbert College. She recently moved back to this area after living in Madison for seven years. Anne and her husband Nate fell in love with the Madison area but after having three kids in under two years, they decided it was time to be near family. She is a former first grade teacher turned stay-at-home mom and spends her days with her twin daughters (born January 2014) and son (November 2015). When she gets a moment to herself, she enjoys reading (things other than children’s books), organizing anything and everything, being outdoors, and sorting through all the photos she takes of her family.Jennifer is a mother of four and resides in Green Bay with her husband Brett. She achieved her Bachelors of Science degree at the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay, majoring in Psychology and Human Development. Jennifer invests the hours of her day into homeschooling her children, reading books, having coffee with friends, and teaching others about finances and personal development. She serves people through LIFE Leadership, passionate about helping friends improve their lives by learning different information. Jennifer believes that everything is better when we are with people and working together.Jolene grew up in Luxemburg, WI. After venturing off for college and work, she moved to De Pere to get married, start a family, and pursue her career. Both the youngest of six, Jolene and her husband always wanted a big family. After struggling to get pregnant, their family was jump-started by having identical twin girls, Eden and Ellie. Not long after, they decided their life wasn’t crazy enough and had Jude. Baby #4 arrives Summer 2018! Jolene owns her own company, www.howtoconcerts.com, planning large scale entertainment events across the country.Stephanie was born and raised in the Green Bay area. She met her husband, Tom, at UWSP. After college, they returned to the area to start their family and careers. Stephanie has been blessed with two outgoing and entertaining children–Landon and Ava . Teaching third grade keeps her busy, but she couldn’t imagine doing anything else! Stephanie also loves to read, cook, spend time in Door County with family and craft/DIY. Her favorite thing in the world is to take her kids to free adventures all around town. Literacy is a true passion of Stephanie’s which inspired her to also start her own business with Usborne Books & More!Heather and her family moved to Green Bay in 2015. She is a wife of almost ten years, and a mother of two little boys. Heather is also a US Army Veteran who has lived in multiple different countries and states, over a span of 14 years. She is currently a student at UWGB and will be entering into the Nursing Program at Bellin College. In her "free time," she runs her own business, About a Baby Doula, LLC, and is an Associated Doula with Green Bay Doulas. She believes there are few things more important than having a wandering spirit, a welcoming home, a listening ear, and coffee or wine to share with friends.Laura grew up in West Central Wisconsin and has a degree in journalism from UW-Oshkosh. She worked for daily newspapers for several years before getting married to husband, Tony. She has two daughters at home and one college-aged stepson. Laura is a freelance writer, distance runner, travel fanatic and connoisseur of fine boxed wines. She and her family live in De Pere (though they are rarely home) and she’s working on her first novel.Monica was born and raised in the Green Bay area, and has stayed here most of her adult life with just a short three year stint in Sheboygan. She has an extensive career in cosmetology, which has also led her to become a nit-picker extraordinaire as the owner of a lice treatment clinic in Green Bay called Nitorious B.U.G. LLC. Monica is mom to three childen, Reidar, Trinity and Roar. She loves to travel and try crazy new foods, and has a goal of seeing all 50 states before her children's graduation.Melissa is a mom of two little boys. She teaches science at Bay View Middle School, and has been a teacher for seven years. Melissa and her husband also own an organic produce farm, Twin Elm Gardens, so you will often find her at local farmer’s markets. Their food is also used in many local restaurants. In the winter Melissa and her husband stay very busy as they are also part owners of the Wojcik Christmas Tree Farm. She loves encouraging people to support local, healthy, and sustainable.Amy is a stay-at-home mom of three young children, two girls and a boy, ages 6, 3, and, 1. A native of Sheboygan, WI, she and her husband permanently moved to Green Bay in 2010 after the birth of their first daughter. Amy is in the middle of her second year of homeschooling, which often consists of distracting a crazy one- year-old while trying to teach lesson plans. Coffee is her best friend. Her family is currently searching for their dream country home where they plan to raise some animals and grow their own food.Nichole is a thirty-something wife and mother currently living in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She was however, born and raised in Texas and lived there until her early 20s. Nichole was a Combat Medic in the US Army and met a boy in her Advanced Training. They were inseparable from the day they met and she moved to the Midwest for love. Their story is a crazy one but it’s theirs and simply because of that, it’s obvs her favorite! Karlie was raised in a small town, a little north of Green Bay. After spending some time in Stevens Point pursuing her psychology degree, she returned closer to home. She met her husband while finishing her master’s degree and interning in his school. Karlie is currently a School Counselor with a passion for behavior therapy, and a full time mommy to an 8 month old son, Lane. As a first time mom, Karlie is learning to navigate the world of mommyhood and loves to share her experiences and many, many mistakes with anyone willing to listen.Beth grew up in south central Wisconsin and has lived in the Green Bay / De Pere area for almost 15 years. She has a Masters degree from UW-Stevens Point and is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist in her own private practice – Speech Spark Services, LLC. She is married and has two spirited children who attend a local Green Bay elementary school. Diapering frustrations five years ago led her to start her own company providing diaper variety packs – Diaper Dabbler, LLC. Beth is also an artist, writer, reader, feminist, very-amateur gardener, researcher, introvert, and nature-lover. (Though not necessarily in that order!!)Amanda is originally from Manitowoc, WI. She and her husband, Jeff, also spent several years in Kenosha. In 2007 they relocated to the Green Bay area for Jeff’s job. Prior to becoming a full-time SAHM, she worked in animal welfare and then a most beloved job for the public library system. She and her husband are blessed to be parents to 4 children – Lauren, Luke, Oscar, and Estelle (with baby #5 due in September). They also have two beloved dogs Marley and Ryker. Amanda is passionate about encouraging and learning from other mamas in all walks of life.Stacey is mom to three strong-willed, feisty girls, Octavia (Tater), and twins Adeline and June. Originally from Lincoln, NE, she called Pella, IA, Louisville, KY, and French Lick, IN home before settling down in rural Sobieski, WI. Though she spent most of her career as a Food and Beverage Manager, in 2012 she founded Eight Trees Company, LLC, to further her hobby of sewing.As a married mom of 3, much of Nicole’s focus is with her immediate and extended family. Running, hiking, backpacking, walking, yoga, and travel are her favorite hobbies. A fun fact about Nicole is that she is a pescatarian, a vegetarian who also eats fish. She grew up in Illinois and moved to Wisconsin to attend Carroll College and Marquette University where she earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology and Master’s in Human Resources. Her education and career have been focused on people and development. Nicole also writes for her personal blog, www.thisblessedadventure.com.Alexia moved to the Green Bay area to attend UWGB where she graduated with a bachelor's degree. After college she married her high school sweetheart and moved to De Pere where she and her husband are raising their two young boys. She works part time for a local logistics company, but spends most days absorbed in toddler life. When life allows it she is a voracious knitter, whipping up sweaters, skirts, hats, and everything in between. She loves the Green Bay area with all it has to offer children and adults alike!
